Next Gen Security Conference
For the inaugural edition of the Next Gen Security Conference, the Atlantic Commission, the Clingendael Institute and Leiden University joined forces. Their goal was to create a platform where established leaders and a new generation of professionals could engage in meaningful conversations about the future of peace, security and geopolitics.
Challenge & Strategy
Complex security challenges require new perspectives. Security is not only about the generation making decisions today, but also about the generation that will live with the consequences of those decisions tomorrow.
The challenge was to develop an identity that feels credible within the worlds of defence, diplomacy and geopolitics, while at the same time creating space for new voices, ideas and perspectives.
Concept
To make that balance visible, we developed a dynamic visual system built around movement.
At the heart of the identity is a rotating form in which different lines, directions and forces come together. The shape represents the continuous interaction between perspectives, interests and ideas. Sometimes they reinforce one another, sometimes they create friction, but it is precisely through that exchange that progress emerges.
Motion plays a key role throughout the system. By introducing movement, a dialogue is created between the different elements. As a result, the identity feels less like a static conference brand and more like a platform where ideas evolve, perspectives connect and new possibilities emerge.
Result
The result is a distinctive identity that clearly positions Next Gen within the international security landscape.
The visual language helps the conference stand apart from traditional security events without compromising its credibility. By combining a serious and professional appearance with a dynamic design system and a strong role for motion, the identity communicates that this is not a conference about the next generation, but one with the next generation.
The result is more than a recognisable visual presence. It strengthens the conference’s position as a platform where established expertise and emerging perspectives come together to shape the future of peace, security and geopolitics.
